Cost comparisons are based on third-party data and are for informational purposes only. Trading involves significant risk of loss. Individual trading costs will vary based on account type, instrument, and market conditions.
The spread is the primary cost of entry for any trader, but it is rarely static. Most brokers quote "typical" spreads that fluctuate wildly during high volatility or low liquidity periods (like the New York/London crossover or market open).
Traders often make the mistake of looking at commission in isolation. A low commission is meaningless if it’s paired with wide spreads or poor execution (slippage).
The Total Cost Per Lot formula is: (Spread in Pips x Pip Value) + Round Turn Commission = Total Cost
When we calculate the comparison between Afterprime and other brokers, we don't just look at a snapshot. We aggregate data across different market sessions to provide a "Net Cost" profile.
Markets.com is a global multi-asset CFD broker established in 2008, operated by Safecap Investments Limited, which is part of the Playtech plc group — a company listed on the London Stock Exchange and a constituent of the FTSE 250 index. The broker is headquartered in Cyprus and serves retail and professional clients across multiple jurisdictions. Markets.com offers access to over 2,200 tradeable instruments including forex pairs, stock CFDs, commodities, indices, ETFs, and cryptocurrency CFDs. The broker does not accept clients from the United States. Its Playtech parentage and exchange-listed group structure provide a degree of corporate transparency uncommon among similarly positioned CFD brokers.
Markets.com operates through several regulated entities. Safecap Investments Limited is authorised and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). A UK entity is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), with client fund protection available under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) up to £85,000. An Australian entity was previously regulated by ASIC; current regulatory status of this entity should be verified directly with the broker. A South African entity is regulated by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA). Client funds are held in segregated accounts across all regulated entities. CySEC-regulated clients are eligible for up to €20,000 protection under the Investor Compensation Fund (ICF).
Markets.com supports MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, TradingView, and its proprietary MarketsX platform. The MarketsX platform is web-based and includes integrated charting, market signals, and a video analysis series. A Markets.com mobile app is available for iOS and Android. The platform operates on a No Dealing Desk (NDD) model.
Markets.com offers two primary account types: Retail and Professional. The Retail account has a minimum deposit of $100 USD and features variable spreads from 0.5 pips on major forex pairs with no commission on most instruments; a 0.6% currency conversion fee applies to trades denominated in a currency different from the account base currency. Leverage under retail accounts is capped at 1:30 for major forex pairs under FCA and CySEC regulation; higher leverage up to 1:300 is available through other entities. The Professional account is available to eligible clients meeting experience and financial thresholds, with leverage up to 1:300. Swap-free (Islamic) accounts are available subject to jurisdiction. An inactivity fee applies after 12 months of account dormancy.
